Visual space enlarging tips!
Great galley! This is a perfect example of how to make a galley look wide and not tunnel-like.
1. The floor. Rather then running the wood planks parallel or perpendicular to the cabinets, the choice was made to employ a herringbone pattern. The pattern has lots of visual movement which is helped even more with the grain and varying colours of the wood.
2. The cabinet colour. By using different colours of cabinets on each side, the space seems wider. You can try this same trick with paint in a narrow hallway. When the same colour is used on each side, your eye is drawn in to focus on the end of the room which makes the space seem more narrow.
